YORKTOWN AT BREWSTER

Final: Yorktown 27, Brewster 6

John Fennessy had a 39-yard TD run and made an interception at his own 7.

The ‘Huskers will play an old rival, Ossining, in the Class A semifinals next weekend.

Update 4: Brewster’s Trevor Smith scores on a 1-yard run to start the fourth quarter. The PAT is no good and Yorktown leads 13-6.

Update 3: The ‘Huskers lead 13-0 after three quarters but Brewster is driving and will have the ball at the Yorktown 1 to start the fourth quarter. Nate Suhadolnik hauled in a 10-yard TD pass from Brunelle for Yorktown’s second TD.

Update 2: Yorktown leads 7-0 at the half on a Matt Fedro 45-yard punt return. Brendan Brunelle, the ‘Husker QB, is 6 for 11 for 106 yards.

Update 1: Alex Myers is on hand in Brewster where it’s 0-0 after one. He said both teams have had turnovers.

ARDSLEY AT PLEASANTVILLE

Final: Pleasantville 43, Ardsley 7

Update 3: It’s 43-7 Pleasantville with 9:35 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Update 2: Pleasantville really poured it on the second quarter and has built what has to be considered a surprising 36-0 lead at the half. D’Apice added a 35-yard run and Bramswig caught two more TDs — for 47 and 15 yards.

Update 1: Jake Thomases is reporting from Pleasantville where the home team has jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Pleasantville’s TD came on a catch-and-run TD pass from Tyler Thomas to Jack Bramswig that went for 74 yards and a 61-yard run by Joe D’Apice.

POUGHKEEPSIE AT SOMERS

Final: Somers 62, Poughkeepsie 12

The Tuskers will play either Nyack or Harrison in next weekend’s semifinals.

Update 3: My goodness. Somers has opened up a — gulp — 62-12 lead. And there’s still a quarter to go.

Update 2: Somers leads 28-6 at the half. Senior QB Erik Zmuidins has completed 7 of 9 passes for 86 yards with three touchdowns on a collection of screen passes. Lombardo has rushed for 95 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Update 1: Josh Thomson is on Tusker Turf where it’s 14-6 Somers after one quarter. Somers’ first two scores came during its first eight plays from scrimmages — on TDs by Rob Lombardo and Joe Marasco. Josh Graham scored on a 40-yard run for Poughkeepsie.

KENNEDY AT RYE

Final: Rye 48, Kennedy 14

The Garnets will play Edgemont or Nanuet in next week’s Class B semifinals.

Update 3: Jack O’Callaghan returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a TD and it’s 42-0 after three quarters.

Update 2: Rye is now leading 35-0 at the half. Ramalho had two TDs. Cole McCormack scored on a 71-yard run. Brendan Nagle returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown. Kennedy missed on a field-goal attempt shortly before halftime.

Update 1: Dan Marra is on hand for this one where Rye leads 7-0 after one quarter on a Kyle Ramalho 6-yard run.

MAHOPAC VS. RAMAPO AT TORNE VALLEY COMPLEX

Injury update: Harold just talked to Mahopac coach Tom Donahoe, who reports that team captain Stephen Giannetta is alert, talking to visitors and in good spirits at the hospital. He briefly lost consciousness after suffering his injury. He is expected to stay overnight for observation.

Final: Mahopac 28, Ramapo 27

Update 9: Play has resumed. Ramapo has the ball at the Mahopac 28 with 41 seconds left.

Update 8: The game is being held up as Mahopac lineman Stephen Giannetta is being attended to after suffering an injury. Giannetta, a senior captain, was at the bottom of a pile. He has some movement in his extremities and is being taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.

Update 7: Mahopac has rallied to take a 28-27 lead with 1:09 to go on a 5-yard TD by Autera. John Maloney then kicked his fourth extra point.

Update 6: Ramapo leads 27-21 after a 3-yard run by Nick Padilla. The extra point was wide left. There’s five minutes left.

Update 5: It’s 21-21 early in the fourth quarter. Autera scored from 9 yards out on the second play of the fourth quarter and the ‘Pac went ahead 21-14. Malivert then returned the subsequent kickoff 68 yards.

Update 4: Well we’ve got at least one good game tonight. It’s tied at 14-14 with two minutes left in the third quarter. Malivert scored on a 63-yard run. Ramapo then added the 2-point conversion on an option keeper Winston Anderson.

Update 3: The ‘Pac leads 14-6 at the half following a 34-yard run by Autera. Kevin Malivert’s 4-yard run made it 7-6. There was a bad snap on the PAT.

Update 2: Tim Taps scores on a 1-yard sneak and Mahopac leads 7-0 early in the second quarter. Justin Autera earlier went over the 1,000-yard rushing mark for Mahopac and has 10 carries for 40 yards.

Update 1: Harold Gutmann is on hand for the action and it’s scoreless after one.

FOX LANE AT OSSINING

Final: Ossining 52, Fox Lane 13

The defending sectional champs advance to next weekend’s Class A semifinals against either Brewster or Yorktown.

Update 6: Ossining now leads 45-7 midway through the fourth quarter.

Update 5: A 21-yard run by Matt Laccetti gives Ossining a 42-0 lead with 2:44 left in the second quarter.

Update 4: This one is looking more and more like last year’s sectional final meeting between the teams, which Ossining won 41-0. Ossining already leads 35-0 — and we’re still in the first half. The latest TD was a 3-yard run by Brundage.

Update 3: It’s now 21-0 Ossining after a 2-yard run by Brundage.

Update 2: Ossining strikes again. It’s 14-0 with 7:54 left in the first quarter as Justin Kreamer completes a 41-yard pass to Jesse Drink.

Update 1: OK. Let’s get these updates rolling, gang. Kevin Devaney Jr. is in Ossining where it’s already 7-0 on a 1-yard TD run by James Brundage early in the first quarter.

Playoff preview special on Varsity Central Live

It won’t be long now, gang.

The start of the Section 1 playoffs are now just four days away — but who’s counting?

We are.

We will be breaking down the matchups on the next edition of “Varsity Central Live” on Wednesday night at 7:30 at “LoHud.com/vclive.”:http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081021/MOGULUS01/310210005

There’s also a huge non-playoff game we’ll also be spotlighting.

Tyrae Woodson-Samuels, Iona Prep’s star quarterback, will be visiting to preview the Gaels’ showdown Saturday against seven-time CHSFL champion St. Anthony’s.

HOLY TRINITY AT IONA PREP
Update 4: Iona Prep wins 27-12. Holy Trinity scored twice in the final four minutes. But there was some bad news in the win for the Gaels — Woodson-Samuels left the game with an apparent head injury with six minutes to play and did not return, though he did remain on the sidelines.

Update 3: Mack just scored on a 1-yard run for his fourth touchdown of the game. It’s 27-0 with 10:09 left.

Update 2: Still 20-0 at the end of the third quarter. Tyrae Woodson-Samuels has thrown for 213 yards and a touchdown and Mack has rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns.

Update 1: Kevin Devaney Jr. reports that Iona Prep is up 20-0 at the half. It’s the Jeff Mack show so far — Mack caught a 74-yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage, and added two more four-yard touchdown runs.Iona Prep, the top team in The Journal News Class AA poll, will face St. Anthony’s Saturday in a matchup of the top two teams in the conference
