Final: Iona Prep 42-27

The Gaels advance to next Saturday’s 4 p.m. CHSFL final at Mitchel Field at Uniondale.

Tyrae Woodson-Samuels was 16 of 22 for 213 yards with three touchdowns. Jeff Mack gained 157 yards with two touchdowns.

Update 3: The Gaels lead 35-20 after three quarters.

Update 3: Iona has opened it up in the third quarter, scoring three touchdowns to go ahead 35-12, aided by Xaverian’s five penalties, interception and a 9-yard punt. Mack added his second TD of the game. Woodson-Samuels has thrown two TD passes in the quarter.

Update 2: Iona Prep leads 14-12 at the half.
Xaverian scored with 30 seconds left in the second quarter as 6-foot-6 QB Tyler Najee, a Division I recruit, scored on fourth-and-goal from the 6,. Iona had stopped them on three straight plays from the 1 before they were moved back because of a holding penalty.

Update 1: Josh Thomson is on hand in New Ro where Iona Prep, the Np. 1 seed, leads No. 4 Xaverian 14-6 after the first quarter.

Iona scored first on a 37-yard TD run by Tyrae Woodson-Samuels.

Xaverian then went ahead 7-6.

Iona Prep answered on its next drive on a 53-yard touchdown run by Jeff Mack.

Take meadow brook to coliseum exit. Get off at coliseum- go past arena to next light make a right & you will see field on left side. It is Nassau Community college”s football complex.
