Hi everybody, and on behalf of all of us at Gameday Central, The Journal News and LoHud.com, Happy Thanksgiving.
While bird is the word today, it will be all about football this weekend. High school football, that is.
Croton-Harmon (Class C) and Rye (Class B) will both be playing for state football championships and you don’t have to travel to Syracuse to watch all the action.
At 2 p.m. on Saturday, it’s Croton-Harmon vs. Southwestern. for the Class C title.
On Sunday, tune in for Rye vs. Oneida at 4 p.m. for the Class B state title.
Visit “www.LoHud.com/vcsports1”:http://lohud.com/vcsports1 to catch all the excitement.

3:38 p.m.: It’s all over at White Plains. The North wins 14-0.
South had one last chance with four minutes to play, but Mamaroneck’s Andrew Benkwitt was intercepted by Mike Ortler of Somers.
3:10 p.m.: On the first offensive play of the third quarter, Justin Autera of Mahopac caught a 30-yard pass from John Jay-East Fishkill QB Nick Strand to make it 7-0. Strand later had a 2-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0, North.
South responded with a drive down to the 2, but it just fumbled a QB-RB exchange on first-and-goal at the 2, giving North the ball back.
Looks like the Northern Westchester/Putnam/Dutchess contingent may have this one in the bag.
2:35 p.m.: No score at the half, as the North and South are tied 0-0.
The South drove deep into North territory late in the second quarter but failed to come away with points, missing a 28-yard field goal. The North took possession and drove all the way down field. They were in scoring range when Rye Neck’s Jack Newton intercepted John Jay (Cross River) QB Tom Cylenica at the goal line with about a minute to play in the half.
Sounds like there’s been plenty of action at White Plains, just no points.
1:58 p.m.: Alex Myers is at White Plains High School today where the North and South are tied 0-0 after one quarter of the Senior Bowl.
The North was on its way in earlier in the game before Yorktown’s John Fennessy fumbled at the South 2.
I’ll have more from Alex later on today. FYI: The game was delayed at the start, which is why the first quarter just ended now. Apparently the introduction took a while to get going.
