First win eludes Spring Valley volleyball

October
6

Spring Valley was on the verge of victory Tuesday.
But Albertus Magnus’ Katie Guarino had 10 aces and five kills, and Kelly Nolan had eight kills, to deny the Tigers their first win of the season, 25-11, 19-25, 24-26, 25-19, 25-15.
Spring Valley (0-9) led two games to one after eking out the third game.
“We were charged up when we had the lead — by doing what we practice — but after that we didn’t have as much teamwork and we made mistakes,” Tigers coach Karin Sachs said. “We had a lot of kills, but it came down to who made less mistakes — as it always does.
“This was the best match we’ve played so far. But we have to play the entire match.”
Chelsea Dardignac had 14 kills for Spring Valley, Natasha Reyes had 11, and Jasmin Sutherland had 11 kills and 11 digs. Marina Tokareva had 29 assists.
