Field hockey: Mamaroneck stands out in pink

October
13

Do pink socks match the black and orange uniforms?

Probably not.

Mamaroneck’s fashion statement today against Rye was a function of Breast Cancer Awareness Week. Coach John Savage even had a pink hat and pink Converse.Rye vs Mamaroneck 10-13-09

Luv Music and All Sports donated 100 shirts that were sold at the game, a 2-0 Tigers win, to raise funds that will be donated to research. The modified, junior varsity and varsity teams will be walking on Sunday in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk-A-Thon at Manhattanville College.

“It’s definitely really cool,” Tigers goalie Katie Stutz said. “We sell T-shirts, and the money goes to a good cause. It’s definitely a push for us to do well, not only for ourselves, but for other people.”

  1. Lakeland

How have you not had anything on Lakeland field hockey yet? They’re only the best team in the section.

    Try http://section1fhock.wordpress.com/

Fills the void left by the lack of Journal News field hockey coverage.

  3. Section 1 News

How could the JN miss Lakeland running up the score on weak opponents? Padding the stats has to be newsworty. (Lakeland – if your leading scorers are scoring the 7th, 8th, or 9th goals of the game then your sportsmanship is very much in question)

Are you suppose to stop playing !!!!!! You play 12 months a year and work as hard as you can to become the best you can become and your not suppose to play in games. It’s ok to win a Football game 47-0 but not scores goals in Field Hockey. An athlete is an athlete girl or boy. Play hard , work hard and let the games play.
