It’s been a while since Eastchester has celebrated a league title so there were six happy seniors jumping around the court today following a 25-17, 25-23, 26-24 win over Edgemont.
There was no shortage of drama.
A series of mistakes left the Eagles in a 23-12 hole, but they regrouped and closed out the match. Christie Lampedusa served the majority of the rally points as Eastchester grabbed the II-D title.
It was a pretty good day for a team coming off its first loss of the season.
“This is five years of hard work rebuilding the program,” said Eagles coach Kathy DiPippo, who’s already thinking about what her team is going to be up against when sectionals begin. “Hen Hud, Pelham, Panas, Ardsley, Byram Hills. They are all storied programs that produce great teams year after year.”

ITS NICE TO SEE THAT EASTCHESTER IS CELEBRATING THEIR CLINCH OF LEAGUE BUT THE COVERAGE FOR VOLELYBALL HAS BEEN ABSOULTUELY ABSURD. BYRAM HILLS IS STILL UNDEFEATED AND SURPASED WHAT IT NECESSARY TO CLINCH LEAGUES AND NOT ONE SINGLE COMMENT HAS BEEN MAKE ABOUT THEIR SQUAD. THEY ARE A FORCE TO BE RECON WITH AND SOMEONE SHOULD START TO NOTICE ALL THE YOUNG TALENT THAT IS ONE BYRAM HILS.
