It was either the ref or history that gave the game to Scarsdale. Sad day in New Rochelle and a great day in Scarsdale.

I only saw the second half of the game. NR had numerous chances to convert and they only scored on one. From what I saw, Scarsdale was called for the vast majority of fouls. I don’t think I can recall one instant in the second half when NR got whistled for a foul and it was questionable. I’d be interested to hear from someone who saw the first half. It seems to me that Scarsdale has simply had the better match-ups over the last two years. It doesn’t appear that either the refs or history affected the outcome today.

soccer fan, the whole second half was even up to 10 minutes remained the ref called a pk that the scarsdale fans couldnt even believe. two mins later new ro was caught off guards and #10 hit an incredible 35 yard shot..new ro dominated the whole second half and couldve EASILY won .. blame the refs o bad luck scarsdale ended new ros season again

Byram beating Keio 5-1 does not surprise me. Keio is smaller and could have been easily dominated in the air and on set pieces as they were in the Beacon game. They’re lucky they made it out of the first round.

Soccer Fan – I walked on to the field as Scarsdale scored the first goal early in the first half. New Ro answered with a goal. The ref awarded a penalty to scarsdale after the score was 1-1. New Ro defender clearly took the ball from a scarsdale atacker in the penalty box and the ref awarded scarsdale a penalty kick. That made the score 2-1 to the raiders. Then there was a thunderous shot from about thirty to forty yards out for scarsdale 15 minutes before the half ended. The second half New Ro had plenty of chance and could only convert one. Without that penalty call in the first half the game would have gone to OT and New Ro clearly had momentum to be able to win the game. As far as history – 7 years new ro can’t beat scarsdale…also new ro head coach coaches 80% of scarsdale team in the offseason…go figure…

I hope scarsdale wins the whole thing…They play a very productive unselfish brand of futbol…they will be the ones to let themselves down if they don’t take the whole thing…Arlington game should be a great one..

Not one word on the Rye Eastchester match? It was a thriller that came down to PKs. Come on, the prejudice is getting a little too obvious. Several times this year the Rye game was the only one missing from the score reporting.

  30. boys soccer

Not prejudiced, just poor soccer reporting, in Rockland and Westchester, it is all about football only. When will the Journal News realize how may soccer players there are and that they are just as important !

  31. golgi body

it is because the rye game ended late probably.

  32. francis doe

what happened to the “I’ll be back later with more from the byram game”

  33. girls?

Let’s report ALL of the soccer scores – boys and girls – as we know the JN is a bit slower getting their audience the details.
