Girls soccer: North Salem falls to Seward in PKs

November
11

The North Salem girls were knocked out of the state playoffs today by S.S. Seward of Section 9. North Salem was the superior team through 110 minutes of soccer but couldn’t find the net. Still tied at 0-0, the game went to a shootout. There Seward won 3-1.

North Salem missed its first two PKs, which put it in a big hole. Seward hit its first two. Lea Trageser kept the Tigers alive by hitting the third shot, but Alexa Pellacani eventually finished them off.

Seward really had no good chances to score during regular time. North Salem had a few but keeper Shannon O’Sullivan blocked the ones on net.

North Salem has to console itself with three sectional championships in four years.
