The pregame activity is over, and we’re two minutes into the game. It’s getting colder as the day progresses, and the sun went into hiding a couple of hours ago.
Keep checking back for scoring updates.
Update: Mamaroneck has already survived five penalty corners without giving up a shot. Tigers ask for a timeout with 21:03 on the clock to refocus. They are playing too much defense.
Update: We’ve seen this before. Tigers were getting outplayed when they pushed into the circle for a rare opportunity. Caroline Clark scores to give Mamaroneck a 1-0 lead with 14:28 to go in the first half.
Update: All tied up. Ward Melville scores on a corner. Georgia Holland dodges Jessica Gardiner and scores with 4:22 to go before halftime.
Update: Halftime 1-1. Mamaroneck is on the short end of an 8-1 penalty corner count.
Update: More of the same, Mamroneck was applying pressure in the opening minutes of the second half and got off two shots on a corner, but are back on defense again. Patriots have a 13-2 advantage on corners, but are not able to get a good shot off.
Update: Ward Melville takes a timeout. I’m guessing they want to discuss how they have 16 penalty corners and just one goal.
Update: Ready for this? Mamaroneck gets only its third corner of the game, Jillian Richards runs onto a rebound after the Patriots goalie jumps out to make a stop and fires into the back of the cage before the defense can reset. There is 1:38 to go. Ward Melville calls time.
Update: Mamaroneck wins 2-1 and moves on.
