Byram Hills and New Hartford are going into overtime in their Class A semifinal. The game was scoreless after eighty minutes. New Hartford had just one shot on goal. I will update with the final score.

UPDATE: Zach Hecox scored nine minutes into overtime to lift New Hartford to a 1 – 0 win. The goal was a rebound off his own shot. Byram Hills’s season ends in the semi-finals.

Boys soccer: Brian Rogers wins Ivy League rookie of the year

When Brian Rogers committed to play at Harvard, the Bronxville native cited Andre Akpan as one of his reasons. Akpan is Harvard’s dynamic striker. He was seen as someone who would draw defenses away from the other side and allow Rogers to flourish.

Rogers’s theory was validated yesterday. Akpan was named Ivy League player of the Year while Rogers was named conference rookie of the year. You can read about it here.

Byram Hills wins 3-0 and advances to the Class A state final four in Oneonta next weekend.

Update: 4:45 p.m. Center Moriches leads Rye Neck 1-0 at the half of their Class B state regional final Arlington High School.

Update: 5:09 p.m. James Whelan scored his second goal with 29 minutes left to extend Center Moriches’ lead to 2-0.

Update: Rye Neck’s Adam Gutierrez scored with 21 minutes left to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Update: 5:42 p.m. It’s a final, Center Moriches 2, Rye Neck 1

Update: 7:27. It’s scoreless at halftime of the Blind Brook-Friends Academy Class C state regional final at Arlington High School.

Update: 8:14. Blind Brook and Friends Academy are heading into sudden-victory overtime in a scoreless tie.

Update: 8:32. Blind Brook and Friends Academy are scoreless and heading into a second 15-minute sudden-victory overtime. If neither team scores, the game will be decided by penalty kicks.

Update: 8:44: Colin Heffron scored with 7:21 in the second overtime to send Friends Academy to a 1-0 win over Blind Brook in a Class C state regional final at Arlington High school.
